If you’re a Vrbo host and you’re reading this you’ve probably come across the following problem: Vrbo does not allow API connections for hosts with less than 5 properties. This leaves hosts only 2 options: Either sync via ical (and we’ll discuss the shortcomings of this option below) or use a channel manager or PMS that takes control of their properties in order to sync via API.
The first option is not ideal because iCal files are notoriously slow to update, and are riddled with bugs that make them unusable or broken all too often. You can read an article on the disadvantages of iCal syncing here.
The second option is even worse because your properties are now transferred to another hosts account who will receive all payments on your behalf. Most hosts we’ve talked to like to retain ownership and control over their properties, so this option is not acceptable.
Enter Hosthub!
Hosthub has built a custom Vrbo API connection that allows us to sync rates and availability between Vrbo and any other channel in real time and with top-level reliability, on par with the connection available to large property managers. This means that our users benefit from our Zero Double Booking Guarantee because we sync their calendars in real time, which minimizes the risk of double bookings. We also sync rates in real time, a feature previously unavailable to hosts with fewer than 5 properties! Hosthub can also sync Vrbo rates and availability in real time without the need for the host to handle payments – read more here.
If you’re already a Hosthub user and listed on Vrbo, just ask our support via live chat to check if your account has switched to our Vrbo API. If you’re not a Hosthub customer yet, you can try us out for free for 14 days here.
