This week we are featuring Artemis from the beautiful Thessaloniki, the second biggest city in Greece. π
Artemis has a property management company called Powerbnb and he was willing to share his experience with us.
Let’s hear him out! π
So, Artemis, tell us, how long have you been hosting for? How and why did you start? How many properties do you manage?
I am hosting about one and half year the last 9 months I am doing professional hosting. My aunt told me about this and I wanted an extra income and I start to looking it.
Are you an owner or a manager? Is this a part time or full time occupation for you?
I am both of them. I m having my own houses but I am manager of many too. That in the beginning was a part time now its full time.
What is the best thing about hosting, and what are the biggest problems you face?
The best thing is to making your house any time better and better. The biggest problem was the last winter the heat was not working correctly but I fixed it very fast.
What is the most important advise/tip you would give someone interested in becoming a short term rental host?
Be patient and pay close attention to cleanliness. And to have the right prices, neither too expensive nor very cheap.
Besides Hosthub, are there any tools, devices or software (eg. Remote keylocks, cameras, local guide apps, power meters, etc) you use? What is your experience with them?
I don’t use any software or tools, except for Hosthub. I try to make my life easier, and to have personal contact with the guests. Hosthub is enough.
Which channels do you list on? How much has your revenue increased since listing on multiple channels?
I am listing in Airbnb, Booking, Homeaway, Agoda, and TripAdvisor. In the begining I was only on Airbnb my income was ok. But now with 5 chanells maybe its double or more.
Besides listing on multiple channels, what other things can a host do to increase his/her bookings and revenue?
I think to have good communication with guest. To make some useful benefits that the guest will love…
